About AMMnet UGNexus
AMMnet UGNexus is a regional Network of Malaria Modelers in Uganda, extending the vision of AMMNet; a community of malaria modelers, data analysts, and partners who develop, apply and use quantitative tools to inform decision-making and operations in malaria-endemic countries.
AMMnet UGNexus fosters an open and respectful collaborative forum for learning and knowledge-sharing with the goal of improving the quality of analytical support offered to malaria programs and advancing general malaria research.
AMMnet UGNexus is a regional malaria modelling network established with an objective of bringing together modelers, analysts, scientists, public health professionals, partner institutions and civil society, to work together and adopt common approaches to improve the use of modelling and analytics for controlling and eliminating malaria whilst reflecting the objectives of the global AMMnet.

Conferences
AMMnet UGNexus Regional Events: AMMnet UGNexus organises regional malaria modelling events to promote networking among malaria modellers in Uganda. In partnership with Global AMMnet and Mbarara University of Science and technology, we shall have first regional event on 22nd March 2024 .
Event Name: AMMnet UGNexus Chapter. Harnessing Mathematical Modelling for the dynamics and control of malaria in Uganda:
This first ever AMMnet UGNexus meeting will bring together key stakeholders in malaria control and modeling from Uganda to share and discuss how mathematical modelling has been adopted in responding to malaria globally, in Africa and Uganda; and hence develop consensus on the use of mathematical modeling for the dynamics and control of malaria in Uganda: During the meeting, a review of key mathematical modelling driven innovations and tools that have been developed worldwide, in Africa and in Uganda targeting different areas of the malaria intervention areas, which include prevention, detection, treatment & management will be diseminated .
Capacity Building
AMMnet UGNexus Seminar Series - AMMnet UGNexus will organise both physical and online seminar series to build capacity among researchers, innovators and students. The ultimate aim of the seminar series is to promote the development and use of mathematical modelling techniques in fighting malaria in Africa. The seminar series include Practical training on using modelling tools, Datathons and Community Based malaria modelling capacity building meet ups.

AMMnet UGNexus Innovation Cafes - Innovation Cafés serve as dynamic hubs where clinicians and innovators converge to catalyse ground-breaking advancements in malaria modelling. These collaborative spaces provide a fertile ground for the exchange of ideas, fostering a symbiotic relationship between those on the front lines of malaria research and visionary innovators. Through a series of interactive sessions, clinicians bring valuable insights from the field, sharing real-world challenges and nuances that shape the modelling landscape. Simultaneously, innovators inject creativity and cutting-edge technologies, offering novel perspectives and solutions to enhance the precision and effectiveness of malaria modelling efforts.
Tools
Malaria remains one of the world's leading killer diseases with most of these deaths being in Africa. New tools, technologies and strategies are accelerating progress in even the most challenging environments by lowering costs, increasing efficiency and addressing risks like emerging drug and insecticide resistance. Innovative advances in fighting malaria are also helping to improve the way health systems fight other diseases. We present some of the selected innovations that have a key element in mathematical modelling, data science, systems thinking, computer graphics and artificial intelligence that have a difference towards malaria eradication in Africa for adaptation and scaling in the African region.
